Marvin Beyer Jr., PCCA’s Board Member for District 11, has been elected as Chairman of the Board for Cotton Incorporated. He will serve a two-year term, beginning this year. Beyer is a third-generation farmer from Taft, Texas. His family farm began when his grandfather, a foreman on the Taft Ranch, purchased a piece of land that remains central to their operation today.
After earning a degree in agricultural engineering from Texas Tech in 1978, Beyer joined his brother Danny to form Beyer Brothers, continuing their family’s legacy of farming cotton and grain sorghum. He says the best part of farming is working with his family, crediting his father for instilling values of hard work and honesty.
Farming comes with challenges—especially unpredictable coastal weather—but Beyer remains optimistic. “If we weren’t, we’d never plant a crop,” he said. He also appreciates the support of PCCA, which helps simplify marketing his crop.
Beyer has been in industry leadership for years, serving as Chairman of Gulf Compress, past chairman of the South Texas Cotton and Grain Association, and past chairman of the Texas State Support Committee.
His advice to young farmers is simple: “Just keep at it. Do your best and move forward.”
We look forward to Marvin’s leadership and guidance as he takes on this role.
