Long-time PCCA Director Curtis Jensen of Danevang, TX, recently was named Wharton County “Ag Man of the Year” at the county’s annual Ag Day Banquet which honors “the professionals who make Wharton County one of Texas’ leading agricultural areas.”

A farmer since 1964, Jensen was honored for his leadership in the agricultural industry and his efforts to help increase value-added processing for agricultural commodities. In addition to producing cotton, he also grows corn, milo and turf grass.

Jensen is a member of the Danevang Farmers Cooperative Board of Directors, a director of the Wharton County Youth Fair, and a member of the local Farm Service Agency Committee. He also served 12 years as an officer and trustee of the El Campo Independent School District. He and his wife, Patty, also are active in their local church.

“With continued vertical integration, the future of agriculture is bright for Texas young people,” Jensen told hundreds of his fellow farmers at the annual banquet.

Annual sales of crops and livestock in Wharton County total more than $160 million, according to local estimates, for a total economic impact of almost $500 million.
